Construction for The Center For Education, Business & Arts (CEBA) is moving right along and is right on schedule. Take a look at the photo above showing the conceptual drawing in the bottom half and a photo taken in June of the actual construction progress on the top half. "You might say that we've come a long way, baby," said acting executive director and DSI board secretary Mary Luscavage. "We have a front-row seat in our current DSI headquarters directly across the street from the new building. Every day, I witness the astounding project that will change the economic landscape of our business district." Mary noted that the building's design including black brick on the facade honors our anthracite coal history. "It was important to us to celebrate our history while we make history," she added.
Construction of the more than $7 Phase I of the project is moving right along schedule with October as the opening. "DSI continues actively seeking donations for the project. "Everyone who donates any amount of money will have their name added to the Giving Tree, to be located in the CEBA lobby," said Luscavage. "This is a symbol to remind visitors of how our community came together for positive change," she added.
CEBA's Funding Sources Support Economic Development and Job Creation
"More than $1 million for CEBA came from local community members and organizations displaying how much this center is needed to spur economic growth in our county," said Karen Kenderdine, DSI board president and treasurer. "Thank you to everyone that contributed any amount," she said. Remember, every dollar counts, your dollar counts for this transformative community center."
CEBA will include a Penn State classroom, commercial kitchen, workforce development office, event center, DSI headquarters, co-working spaces, and a health component. Get more information and donate today.
