Ready, Set, Go Workshop Held August 29, 2019

Penn State Schuylkill is partnering with Downtown Shenandoah Inc. (DSI) to bring its LionLaunch entrepreneurship and business development programming to northern Schuylkill County. The first Let’s Do Lunch With The Experts session was held August 29th at Francesco’s Restaurant and featured The Small Business Administration’s Ready Set, Go Business Smart Workshop. Attendees enjoyed a free lunch, thanks to DSI who sponsored the event.

This presentation focus was to help entrepreneurs and business professionals learn some basic and sometimes overlooked business priorities including, why the "Five Cs of Credit" are important, why a credit score matters and why they need a solid up to date business plan. Access to capital, helpful resources, government contracts were also discussed. The SBA provides many free services and resources to small businesses that were also provided.

Presenter Shannon DiGiglio, Lender Relations and Economic Development Specialist for the SBA encouraged attendees to remember that the only thing a potential lender knows about you and your business is the story you tell.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) is one of the many partners who support Penn State Schuylkill’s LionLaunch program. LionLaunch is part of a Penn State University-wide initiative, Invent Penn State, whose mission is to spur economic growth in Pennsylvania. “Bringing programming to the northern region of Schuylkill County is important to us,” said Susan Williams, LionLaunch Coordinator. The Let’s Do Lunch series is also held at Penn State Schuylkill’s, Schuylkill Haven campus. “Teaming with DSI, The SBA and other local partners is a positive step in the future revitalization of the different areas in Schuylkill County,” she said.
