The Center for Education, Business & Arts is getting closer and closer to becoming a reality. Construction that is transforming two empty lots on South Main Street into an off-street parking lot for the community center started in late October. Additional parking places were needed to meet the Shenandoah Borough's zoning requirements.

On Sunday, October 29, DSI officially invited contractors to provide bids for CEBA construction. Contractors can secure the bid packets at the DSI office, 116 N. Main Street, Shenandoah Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost is $200. All sealed proposals will be received on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the DSI office. At this time the bids will be opened and read aloud. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled at the DSI office, on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.

Naming Bricks and Giving Tree Will Recognize Community Support

The Center for Education, Business & Arts will be constructed in two phases. Phase 1 will include a commercial kitchen, Penn State classroom, and co-working spaces. Phase 2 will include an event center and remaining co-working spaces. DSI has raised enough money through grants, donations, and fundraisers to start and complete the first phase. They are still seeking donations and other funding opportunities for Phase 2.

A special giving tree inside will recognize everyone who donates any amount to the project. Naming bricks that will be located on a special outdoor feature are for sale. For more information about DSI and CEBA, visit the organization's website
